Passing Python Values to JS in Wagtail

I was trying to figure out a way to call a JavaScript function using values from the request object. It turns out, Django has a built-in template filter for this… As an example, I’m going to add some…

Our autism journey

To say today was exhausting is an understatement. But it was also an amazing celebration of my brother’s life. We left very early this morning. Owen did amazing in the car. I really wasn’t sure how he would do for that many hours in the car but it went well. Thankfully our friends rode with us for the day and that helped with the whole experience for Owen. He had one thing on his mind and that was to see “grandma”. Not being in routine for the last couple of weeks has been hard on him. So as soon as we pulled up he was ready to see “grandma”. We went inside the hotel and the search began for her. It didn’t take long and she was there. Owen immediately said, “blue pants”. She wasn’t wearing them but she then changed just for him. It’s wonderful the connection he has with her and I’m thankful he handled everything beautifully. There were tons of distractions for him with the noises that the hotel made and seeing so many people that were all talking to him but he handled it all amazingly. He stayed at the hotel with our friends while we went to the service. I am beyond thankful for the amazing words that family and friends said about my brother. Knowing my brother made such an impact on so many people helped me embrace today even though it was probably one of the hardest days I have ever experienced. After the service was over we ate dinner with our family. He interacted with everyone and had an incredible night. When it was time to leave he listened well and said his goodbyes. When nothing is routine it is hard sometimes to concentrate on what lies ahead but Owen was able to keep moving forward and the progress was amazing. Today was hard. Today was exhausting. But beyond thankful for the smile and joy from my sweet baby O. He sang for me and that was exactly what I needed. Each day it’s moments like these that help prepare Owen for his future. We love, we learn, we grow and today we did a whole bunch of it all. Find your strength to push forward, move the mountains that block your view, and know that your smile can change the world. Smiles to all and donut daze!
