ZetaChain Testnet

ZetaChain is a crypto project with revolutionary potential that is tackling one of the biggest challenges the blockchain industry is facing: interoperability. It is a trustless omnichain interoperability protocol that connects all chains and layers, hence making the end user’s life much easier and enabling limitless opportunities.

What is ZetaChain?

ZetaChain is a protocol-agnostic Layer-1 platform that supports omnichain smart contracts that connect all blockchains, including Ethereum, Ethereum L2 rollups, Solana, Terra, and Algorand, as well as non-smart contract blockchains like Bitcoin and Dogecoin, without the need for bridges or wrapped tokens.

The ZetaChain protocol was designed with the developer in mind, with the intention of offering an easy-to-use and comfortable experience for developers who are accustomed to building on other platforms. Developers can add multichain functionality to dApps by simply implementing a few functions into their existing smart contracts, enabling omnichain-dApps, or odApps.

Tech

ZetaChain is comprised of a Proof-of-Stake blockchain in addition to observers and signers for other blockchains. The protocol utilizes the Tendermint Consensus mechanism and is based on the Cosmos SDK.

The observers reach consensus on observation on the ZetaChain blockchain after scanning external chains for relevant events, transactions, and states at a point in time. The signers share a single Threshold Signature Scheme (TSS) key that allows them to send authenticated messages to external chains and hold assets such as normal accounts/addresses on those chains. Smart contracts on ZetaChain support arbitrary logic that operates conditionally on external chain events, and via its TSS-signed transactions external chain states can directly be updated. As a result, ZetaChain enables omnichain dApps that interact with different blockchains natively and directly without the need for asset wrapping or bridging.

Mainnet launch is planned for Q1 2023.

Team

The founders and team behind ZetaChain are not doxxed. Based on the information given in the company profile on the ZetaChain website, the team has professional backgrounds in well-known crypto and IT companies, like Coinbase, BAT and SANS.

Investors

ZetaChain closed its initial seed funding round March this year, receiving contributions from early employees of Coinbase and Binance like Dan Romero, Sam Rosenblum, and John Yi, as well as major contributors of some of the industry’s most widely adopted protocols and funds such as JD Kanani of Polygon and HwiSang Kim, a former CIO of Hashed. Nathalie McGrath, Coinbase’s first Head of People, and Juan Suarez, former in-house counsel for Coinbase.

Logos: Chrome, Brave, Metamask, XDEFI, Discord, Twitter

Browser: Chrome OR Brave Browser

To use the XDEFI Wallet you must install a Chrome browser extension. You can use the extension with any browser that supports Chrome extensions from the Chrome Web Store. I recommend Brave since it’s faster than Chrome, besides other features.

Wallets:

Metamask, XDEFI

Socials:

Install Metamask

Add Networks to Metamask

✓ Goerli Testnet

✓ BSC Testnet

The process to add the BSC Testnet is pretty easy. We’ll use the Chainlist website where you can easily add networks with only a few steps:

✓ Polygon Mumbai Testnet

In the same way that the BSC Testnet was added, the Polygon Mumbai Testnet can be added by making use of the Chainlist website.

✓ Klaytn Baobab Testnet

To be able to receive Klaytn we have to add a custom network RPC to Metamask.

Network Name: Klaytn Baobab

Chain ID: 1001

Currency Symbol: KLAY

Install XDEFI Wallet

NOTE:

Prioritise XDEFI Wallet when you need to connect the extension to a dApp not offering XDEFI Wallet in their options yet and afterwards unprioritise it again.

Here’s how:

✓ Zeta Testnet Tokens

Option 1: Use Zeta faucet on website (3 ZETA every 24 hours).

Option 2: Use Zeta Faucet in Discord

✓ BNB Testnet Tokens

You can request BNB from the BNB Smart Chain faucet, besides that BTC, BUSD, DAI, ETH, USDC and USDT, which are all so-called “peggy” tokens issued as BEP20 token.

You can request 0.5 BNB every 24 hours.

✓ Goerli ETH

You can get ETH on the Goerli testnet from the Goerli Faucet. 0.2 Goerli ETH can be requested every 24 hours.

✓ Mumbai Matic

You can get Matic on the Polygon Mumbai testnet from the Mumbai Faucet, also hosted by Alchemy (see Goerli ETH). 0.2 Goerli ETH can be requested every 24 hours.

✓ Testnet BTC

You can get Testnet BTC from Coinfaucet.eu, here 0.2 testnet BTC can be requested every 24 hours.

✓ Testnet Klaytn

You can get Klaytn on the Baobab testnet from the KLAY Faucet. Every 24 hours 150 Klaytn can be requested.

Example: Omnichain BNB-MATIC Swap

Swap Tip:

Should you not have enough tokens to complete a particular trade, you can easily get the tokens you need from another testnet and trade them in for the token on the chain you need. If you need MATIC for a MATIC-ZETA Swap, for instance, swap 0.25 tBNB to have 6 MATIC that can then be swapped for Zeta.

The lab hub of ZetaChain is called ZetaLabs. It is a testing environment for users to test omnichain dApps deployed on ZetaChain. This is where users can access the swap dApp, request testnet Zeta, and also to collect Zeta Points.

ZETA Points are used to track your progress as a tester and contributor to the ZetaChain network. Although there has been no official confirmation of an airdrop, the likelihood is strong, and this would be a straightforward method of estimating it through the conversion of Zeta points into actual $ZETA.

Steps:

At best, you undertake swaps weekly. You don’t need to send any proof or show anything to get the points added to your account. Simply ensure that the address you use for transactions is the same as the address you use for ZetaLabs.

Crew3 is an online marketing tool that cryptocurrency projects use to develop various social media and marketing campaigns as well as connect and coordinate various actions across various platforms (such as Discord, Twitter, Telegram, Discord, YouTube, etc.). Each campaign has a different set of quests that, upon completion, award you with experience points.
The quantity of XP accumulated is also used to determine your rank.
Tasks like Twitter following, likes, replies, etc. are included in quests.

Since anyone may make a campaign for essentially any project, you should always make sure to verify if it is hosted directly by the project.
For example, you may see if there’s a specific discord channel for Crew3 quests or announcements on Twitter, and if there isn’t one, you can either search the main conversation or ask a moderator.

The ZetaChain campaign on Crew3 is directly hosted by ZetaChain and therefore a must when you’re on an airdrop hunt for $ZETA.

How to take part:

Note that your Crew3 level is completely separate from your Discord level.
Therefore, be sure to be active in Discord as well.

Nine NFTs are available as part of the ongoing “Mission Bring Zeta Home” campaign, which you can complete by meeting certain requirements.
Only four of the nine are currently accessible for claim as of this writing; the other five haven’t even begun. Here, we use the Zeta Supporter OAT as an example.

NFTs you can currently claim on Galxe:

✓ Zeta Supporter OAT

✓ Omnichain MATIC-ZETA Swap

✓ Omnichain gETH-ZETA Swap

✓ Omnichain ZETA-USDT Swap

Example: How to claim the Zeta Supporter OAT

ZetaChain has a guild on guild.xyz where you can complete tasks to unlock various roles. The roles Guild Member, Zeta Supporter, and Zeta User are presently accessible.

You must possess the NFTs from the Mission Bring Zeta Home Campaign on Galxe that were discussed in the previous section in order to become a Zeta User and Zeta Supporter.

To see the above right window simply drop a hi in the # 🌅 |gm-gn-hi channel on Discord and click on your profile pic.

The last way to interact with ZetaChain is part 2 of the “ZetaChain Logos @Best places to visit in your city campaign” directly hosted by ZetaChain and taking place on Layer3.xyz. The rewards for winning this event are $50 USDC for each of the 10 winners. There isn’t much of a time or effort commitment for the contest, so why not give it a shot?

Here’s how:

Are you still reading? That means you’ve made it to the end, congrats! And if you’ve followed all of the steps in this guide, as well as the recurring tasks, your chances of participating in a potential ZetaChain airdrop should be fairly high, and I hope that this guide helps.

Until then, take care!
