Welcome to My Very First Blog

Hello everyone!

I spent quite a lot of time thinking about the best way to introduce myself. After all, most of us care at least a little about how we present ourselves to the world. Do we start with a name?

A name, like a brand, is a great way to categorize things and people. However, there’s nothing quite like a first impression, an action, a quality you are known for, as these things all speak for themselves.

Who am I? I’m a student, a foodie, and a connoisseur of fashion, to say the least. I moved to America from China when I was a young girl, and have spent most of my life here. I now call New York “home,” and other words, such as “inspiring” and “exhausting.”

I, like many people, am a product of my environment. I am a product, with unique qualities and characteristics built over time, and shaped in others’ perception by what I choose to present to the world. I want to use my experiences in this world to answer some of life’s questions as they relate to marketing.

The first question many of us ask is, “What is the meaning of life?” The truth is, the answers proposed to this question are just as meaningless as the question itself. Life has meaning; there is no question about that. But while we continue to mull over what that meaning might be, I feel it is succinct enough to say that we humans are a culmination of experiences, relationships, and things collected over the span of our physical life. The most amazing connection to business in this sense, is that experiences, relationships, and things can all be marketed. The appeal here is a sense of meaning. And so, my aim with this blog is to make connections of this sort from ordinary experiences in my daily life.

My name is Mengnan Yu. I hope you’ll enjoy this journey in life and marketing with me.
