IT Dog Tech Culture in Hong Kong

I saw this at MTR station the other day. A man wearing a bag declaring “I am An IT Dog”.

This starts from an education magazine comics. There are a lot of discussion online. Many HK tech professional feel they works like a robot dog, with no dignity and follow master’s command.

How about the local developer community Codeaholics? Around 700 members on Slack. Hmm…It should be more that that.

We can query the dataset based on Stack Overflow users’ location and last access date. It turns out there are around 2K active HK Stack Overflow users since 2018.

Wait…how update are these data? Internet archive shows the users table is last modified at Jun 2018 at the time of writing.

If there are 2K developers in HK, how do we bring everyone together, change IT Dog tech culture and build a stronger developer community? We can collaborate, solve world’s problem and #proudtobehkdeveloper. This is a challenge to be solved next.
